The ruling Trinamool Congress today asked party cadres to refrain from infighting over the coming rural polls in West Bengal, and said those who don't get tickets would be accommodated in "some other way".
"Our district leadership has been communicated that if someone is aspiring for a ticket and the party is not able to give one, then he/she will be accommodated in some other way. He/she should not be disrespected just because the person didn't get a ticket," a senior TMC leader said on condition of anonymity.
It is not possible to give tickets to everyone as there are several aspirants for a single gram panchayat or zilla parishad seat, he said.
TMC secretary-general Partha Chatterjee said the party will reach out to the masses with the developmental work that the state government has done in the last six years.
Chatterjee also denied allegations levelled by Opposition parties over violence during filing of nominations for the panchayat polls, saying they were baseless.
"The elections can't be announced on whims and fancies of Opposition parties. It is for SEC (State Election Commission) to decide when to announce polls," he said.
The rural polls in West Bengal would be held in 20 districts on May 1, 3 and 5.
