Gujarat Congress alleged here today that the Gujarat government ignored information technology and did not frame any policy for the sector after its earlier its five-year policy lapsed in 2011.
"The Gujarat government's infotech policy for five years which was announced in 2005 expired in 2011, after which the state failed to frame a new policy for the last three years," Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi alleged here today.
"This is an example of Gujarat government's policy paralysis where it has not been able to come up with an infotech policy for the last three years," he said.
"Gujarat lags behind states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Delhi in the infotech sector, because it has not framed a comprehensive policy on infotech which would have helped develop the industry here," Doshi said.
"Gujarat's infotech companies suffer due to this attitude of the government, which merely talks big about the infotech sector," Doshi said.
"Students who pass out of institutes and wish to develop their careers in the industry, have to migrate to southern states or Maharashtra for jobs," Doshi alleged.
The Congress has demanded that the Gujarat government must frame a comprehensive infotech policy as soon as possible to reverse the trend, Doshi said.
