No money for Sethusamudram project this year

No financial allocation has been made for the Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project (SSCP) in the current fiscal year (2016-17), Rajya Sabha was told today.
In a written reply to BJP member Subramanian Swamy, Minister of State for Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan said while Rs.One crore was given for the project in 2013-14, it was Rs. 50 lakh in 104-15 and Rs.5 crore in 2015-16.
Asked whether there has been any modification made in the SSCP to avoid touching or rupturing the Rama Setu/Adam's Bridge, the minister said the matter is sub-judice before the Supreme Court.
