Noting that there is no shortage of funds for the Telangana government's prestigious 'Mission Bhagiratha' scheme to provide piped drinking water to all households, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today urged officials to work for timely completion of project milestones.
"There is no dearth of funds for Mission Bhagiratha. Financial institutions have already pledged about Rs 30,000 crore. We have to fast-track works at the ground level and that should be our aim as on date. Coordinate with all the departments for the pipeline works," a release from his office quoted Rao as saying at a review meeting on the scheme.
Rao asked the District Collectors "to play a pro-active role" on obtaining clearances from the national highways, railways and others for laying pipelines.
"Get clearances from the national highways, state highways, Panchayat Raj roads, railway crossings, canal crossings, river/rivulet crossings. Get the forest clearances faster. The district Collectors should be asked to play a proactive role in this," he said.
He also enquired about the construction of intake wells, water treatment plants, pipelines and electric sub- stations and other aspects, the release added.
