No slackness in probe of LKG student molestation case: Govt

: Kerala government today asserted there has been no slackness in investigation into the alleged molestation of an LKG student in Kozhikode and said all legal steps would be taken to bring the culprits to book.
Replying to a submission on the matter moved by E K Vijayan (CPI) in the assembly,Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said investigation has been handed over to the crime branch. Government views the incident very seriously, he said, adding all legal steps would be taken to bring the culprits to book.
Government was ready to appoint a special prosecutor to handle the case, which occurred on October 30 last.

Two students, both 18-year-old boys, pursuing 'religious education' in the same campus in a private institute at Parakadavu were arrested in connection with the incident that sparked strong public protest.
They were charged under IPC 376 (rape) and relevant provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The incident came to light after the child's parents lodged a complaint with the police.
The institution has classes from LKG to plus-two and also a wing on the campus for religious education.
