Local residents will now have to think twice before littering, burning waste or defacing the city as the Noida Authority will soon be introducing sanitation bye-laws.
New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) Chairman Rama Raman said Prevention of Defacement of Property, Cleanliness and Sanitation Bye-laws - 2015 were approved by the NOIDA board in a meeting here today.
"The bye-laws were proposed in exercise of powers conferred under sub section (2) of section 9 and section 19 of the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Act, 1976," he said.
Already approved by the Uttar Pradesh government, Raman said these bye-laws shall be applicable to the limits of the areas falling under NOIDA.
Once these bye-laws come into force, property defacement, littering or dumping of waste at non-designated places and burning of garbage, leaves, plastic, rubber in open will not be tolerated and invite heavy fines.
A statement by NOIDA Authority further said, "No person shall cook, bathe, spit, urinate, defecate, feed animal or birds in any public place except in public facilities or conveniences provided for these purposes by the authority.
"Whomsoever contravenes any of the provisions of these bye-laws or fails to comply with any requisitions made under any of the bye-laws shall be punished with a fine which may extend to five thousand rupees," it said.
