Anoushka Shankar, daughter of legendary sitarist Pandit Ravi Shankar, says she is not at all surprised that her father's album 'The Living Room Sessions Part 2' has received a posthumous nomination at 56th Grammy Awards.
The 32-year-old sitarist, who was very closed to her father, said that all his albums were were incredibly beautiful.
"It's amazing and at the same time not surprising at all. It's overwhelmingly incredible as it is his first album since his death and it got the Grammy nod. All his albums were incredibly beautiful," Anoushka told PTI.
The sitar maestro, who died last December at the age of 92, won the World Music album award last year for the first part of the album 'The Living Room Sessions Part 1'.
The Grammy also honoured him with a posthumous lifetime achievement award, which was received on his behalf by daughters Anoushka and Norah Jones.
Anoushka, 32, feels the kind of albums his father made in his last days are made by only few people in the world as they are with no editing and layering.
"My dad hadn't recorded many albums recently. The last album was 14 years ago. Finally, he called Tanmoy Bose (tabla player) at our home in San Diego and in our living room he played with him over a couple of days. One of my dad's student did the recording. Those seven ragas that my dad played were split into two albums," she added.
The musician, who collaborated with her father many times, is sad that she was not involved in any of his last works.
"I wish I would have been because all these were solely music. I am hopeful that it wins a Grammy this year too," she said.
The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on January 26, 2014, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
