"There are a lot of things that are new in this film ('Shuddhi') . There is a rumour that it is based on Meluha ... Shiva and all that... But is not true... The film is on a completely different subject," Varun said.
Earlier, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan were supposed to star in the movie but later Salman Khan was roped in.
But Karan Johar last month announced that he has finalised Varun and Alia Bhatt for the lead pair in the film, which will be directed by Karan Malhotra of "Agneepath" fame.
This will be Varun and Alia's third film together after "Student of the Year" and "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania".
"Shuddhi" is expected to hit theatres during Diwali next year. Reportedly Salman, who is known to support and motivate young talent suggested Varun's name for 'Shuddhi'.
"Rohit Shetty is a brilliant and successful director we have today. I have just followed what he has said. I am enjoying doing this film. I am sure people will enjoy this film during Christmas," he said.
As of now, Varun is looking forward to the release of Remo D'Souza's "ABCD 2". The film starring Prabhudheva and Shraddha Kapoor besides him. It releases on June 19.
