Noted dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai dies

Celebrated classical dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai today passed away here. She was 97.
"My mother just left for her eternal dance," her daughter, leading danseuse Mallika Sarabhai said in a Facebook post.
A leading exponent of classical dance forms like Bharatnatyam, Kathakali and Mohiniyattom, Mrinalini was honoured with Padma Bhushan.
Daughter of a former Parliament member Ammu Swaminathan, Mrinalini was born in Kerala. She went on to have her education at Santiniketan under the guidance of Rabindranath Tagore.
She married Indian physicist Vikram Sarabhai, considered to be the father of the Indian space programme. She has a son, Kartikeya and a daughter Mallika, who followed her mother's footsteps to become a dancer.
