Lucknow district administration today served a notice seeking detailed reply from Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) chief Nirmal Khatri for bursting fire crackers at party office without permission.
The magistrate concerned has sought a reply within two days for use of fire crackers in and around Congress office premises yesterday, DM Lucknow Raj Shekhar said.
The notice cites newspaper reports along with the report of Hussainganj police station incharge.
Congress Seva Dal workers had burst fire crackers in and around the party office yesterday to celebrate the Nainital High Court order quashing President's rule in Uttarakhand.
Earlier this month, Lucknow district administration had issued stern directives, warning strong action if permission was not taken for use of fire crackers during any social event, especially marriages, following the temple tragedy in Kerala.
The directive makes it mandatory for public to take written permission from local administration for use of fireworks on such occasions.
Permission for use of fire crackers at any function will have to be taken under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) which prohibits any organisation or group from carrying any lethal items and explosives, the directives said.
