Notorious criminal arrested in Ghaziabad

A notorious criminal, carrying a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, was arrested along with his two accomplices by police after a heavy exchange of fire.
Police received an information that Harendra along with three other accomplices is coming towards Ghaziabad from Duhai to eliminate Prashant Pandit and Rajvir Bhola who were going to district court from Dasna jail under police escort for appearance, District Police Chief Dharmendra Singh said.
Following the tip-off, SP City Ajay Pal Sharma ordered checkings at several locations.
A team led by SHO Kavi Nagar Avnish Gautam signalled a suspiciously moving car to stop for checking, Singh said, adding, instead of halting, the occupants of the car lowered the wind screens and fired indiscriminately.

Police teams chased the car, he said, adding, more than 50 rounds were fired from both sides, after which the police arrested Harendra belonging to Khadkhadi village of Loni, Bijendra resident of Gurgaon, and Mangal resident of Dadri.
Their fourth accomplice Anil Penda carrying a reward of Rs 15,000 fled away.
Police have seized one carbine, two pistols, one country made machine gun and 87 live and 27 used cartridges from the spot.
More than two dozen cases of murder, robbery, and extortion have been registered against Harendra at various police stations and he was not appearing in courts since last 3 years, said officer.
