A new platform has brought together Indian and British dancers to create a digital dance experience.
'Mix the Body', created by the creative agency Flying Object with renowned choreographer Wayne McGregor and Bangalore-based Attakkalari Dance Company.
It was unveiled here yesterday as part of British Council's UK-India 2017 initiative -- a year long celebration of cultural exchange between the two countries.
The interactive platform enables anyone with a smartphone to create a sequence of contemporary dance, using movements choreographed by these dancers.
"We hope to free the dancer in all of us this Diwali. 'Mix the Body' lets you create a unique and beautiful dance performance on your mobile through a world-class collaboration with choreographer Wayne McGregor and composers Jon Hopkins and Max Richter," Alan Gemmell OBE, Director India, British Council, said.
'Mix the Body' is the third instalment of the British Council's 'Mix' series, which aims to further the organisation's mission of cultural exchange by giving people the chance to create art, not just watch it.
It comes after 'Mix The City', a city-based music creation platform, and 'Mix The Play' developed for British Council's Shakespeare season.
"Our mission at Flying Object is to make work worth watching, sharing, and taking part in - earning the attention of a generation that lives on the web for brands and organisations.
"'Mix The Body' is a perfect example of this idea - a platform that is immersive, memorable and allows communities to experience dance, art and culture in a rich and rewarding way," Tom Pursey, founder of Flying Object, said.
