National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) today said there has been no data hack in its systems and the platform is "fully safe and secure".
The clarification came in reaction to a report saying that data from as many as 10 banks were hacked from NPCI's systems.
"With reference to news reports on data compromise in card payment system, we would like to clarify that there is no compromise at NPCI and our systems are fully safe and secure," NPCI said.
"Out of the card transactions reported by few banks to NPCI, it is also observed that there is no transaction pertaining to RuPay card," it added.
It further said that the corporation will support member banks for clarifications, if any.
"NPCI follows high level of security and an integrated approach to protect its infrastructure and build a robust payments ecosystem," it said.
Set up in 2009 as the central infrastructure for various retail payment systems, NPCI was envisaged by RBI as the payment utility for all banks in the country.
Transactions facilitations via NPCI have grown to 25 million from 2 million six years ago.
