"We condemn such kind of nexus. This is very shameful. We passed a resolution in our party executive committee that the CM must go and the entire case must be probed by an independent judicial committee under a sitting or a retired judge," NPP leader and MLA of the Meghalaya Assembly James Sangma told reporters here.
Presenting an email written allegedly to the Chief Minister by the underground A'chik National Volunteers' Council-Breakaway (ANVC-B) Political Secretary Ajaju R Marak, the MLA claimed Mukul Sangma has close links with the group's chairman.
The state government has ordered a magisterial enquiry into the incident, but "we don't have any faith on this as the CM is the head of the executives," he said, adding that, his party will approach the Prime Minister and Home Minister with their demands.
Asked about the controversies regarding the ST status of the Chief Minister, James Sangma said, "The matter has been referred to the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes by the Supreme Court and we welcome this decision."
