NSCN(IM) not sole authority of Naga people: MNPF

The NSCN(IM) is not the sole authority or representative of Naga people, the Manipur Naga People's Front, a militant outfit of the Naga people in Manipur, said accusing it of misleading Nagas on the peace accord signed with the Centre.
In a statement issued yesterday, the MNPF singled out Issac Chisi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah among the NSCN(IM) leaders for not taking all Naga people into confidence.
The statement maintained that the peace accord was not in the best interests of the Naga people, who were "much more important than Issac Chishi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah".
Warning the NSCN (IM) against the BJP-led government's "sinister and malicious design of dividing Nagas and the region", the MNPF said that many Nagas had sacrificed their lives for the Naga cause and the suffering of the people could never be compromised by any package or greater autonomy.
