NSSK asks J&K govt to increase wages, ease workload

The National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) today asked Jammu district administration to enhance wages and take measures to ease extra workload of the civic workers enabling them work more efficiently.
Member NCSK, Vijay Kumar, who chaired a meeting of the district administration here today, reviewed the socio- economic and educational status of Safai Karamcharis besides taking stock of rehabilitation measures being taken up for the community.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh and senior officers of Police, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Health, Information, Social Welfare besides representatives of Safai Karamcharis were present in the meeting.
Kumar asked for strict adherence to the revised guidelines of the Centre for regulating and improving the working conditions and implementation of welfare schemes meant for welfare of this under privileged community.
"These people hold key to success of Swachh Bharat Mission and the Prime Minister is extremely concerned about their welfare and healthy working conditions", the NCSK member asserted.
Kumar particularly stressed on the revised guidelines of the government and asked the concerned agencies to thoroughly go through these and make provisions for establishing housing colonies, better education facilities and medical facilities for these people.
"The civic workers are the only person who keep our cities and towns clean and hygienic protecting us from hazardous health troubles so they should be taken care of in all respects," he said.
