Nurses went on ceasework at the
Howrah Zilla Hospital today in protest against an assault by patients party on the hospital staff the day before.
Hospital sources said some people vandalised the properties and assaulted the doctors, medical staff and nurses blaming them for misinformation regarding a patient's condition days back.
The ransackers alleged the hospital didnot pass on information about the patient's death and tried to dump off the body.
Demanding security the nurses struck work and claimed the patient parties' allegations were false.
Police said security was stepped up in the hospital compound and an investigation was on.
