Members from Nyishi Elite Society (NES), East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO), All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) and All Bodo students' Union (ABSU) came together to pledge peace and amity in the border areas with Assam.
NES President Bengia Tolum was invited as the chief guest this year to the conference who came along with a team led by Chairman EKSWCO, Khya Safar Pao, President ANYA Biri Kakum and members of Nyishi Nyem Acham.
Yesterday's meet was held to commemorate the peace committee formed in 2002 consisting of members from both communities to maintain social harmony and peaceful co-existence and hold peace talks alongside the border.
The Nyishi and Bodo community leaders advocated the need to uphold brotherhood and communal harmony by fostering the age-old ties.
Thousands of visitors and participants went to the meet that was also aimed at promoting cultural exchange.
Hundreds of volunteers stood guard to welcome the visitors with colourful flags.
The three day conference, having concluded yesterday, called for 'Total revolution for total change' alongside the Arunachal-Assam border and conducted a national level seminars that discussed issues related to education, socio-economic problems and land rights.
While applauding the ABSU for organising the conference Tolum said, "Individual peace comes from overall peace in the society."
He further suggested ABSU to set up a coordinating body to help both communities at times of crisis and not just confined to peace talks.
President ABSU, Promod Boro chaired the conference and welcomed the delegates from Arunachal with friendliness.
