The trailer of the upcoming special, on criminal justice in the US, offers a glimpse of the Obama's tour of El Reno, a medium-security penitentiary in Oklahoma, with Vice founder Shane Smith in July, reported Entertainment Weekly.
"We think it's somehow normal for black youth or Latino youth to be going through the system this way," Obama says in the trailer, adding, "It's not normal."
Obama met prison inmates and staff as part of the documentary examining the many interlocking pieces and flaws of the criminal justice system.
The special offers a panoramic perspective on crime and punishment, and will follow all the key characters in America's sprawling justice system, including prisoners and their families, members of the judiciary, and community reformers.
"Fixing the System" will air on September 27 on HBO.
