Octroi evasion over diamonds worth Rs 27 crore foiled

Civic officials today foiled an attempt to evade octroi on diamonds worth Rs 27 crore.
Acting on a tip-off, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials seized a consignment of diamonds, which had arrived by train from Jaipur, outside the Mumbai Central Station here.
The officials collected a fine of Rs three lakh on the consignment, sources said.
