In its bid to provide quality power to consumers, Odisha government today set a target of reducing the Aggregated Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses to 37 per cent by the end of March this year.
The target was set by Chief Secretary G C Pati at a review meeting here.
Pati directed all distribution companies (DISCOMs) to focus on reduction of distribution loss, replacement of defective meters, converting power line wares to AB (Aerial Bunched) cables, improving the performance of billing system and undertaking energy audit.
AT&C loss in Odisha has been brought down from 56.71 per cent in 1999-2000 to 41.21 per cent in 2013-14.
During the current year, the loss has been still reduced to 39 per cent, Pati said adding "It has been targeted to bring it further down to the level of 37 per cent by March, 2015."
Pati also issued direction to take measures for infrastructure upgradation in the state's power sector.
