Odisha Assembly was today adjourned for the 11th consecutive day after uproar by opposition Congress and BJP members who were demanding a debate on the chitfund issue.
Speaker Niranjan Pujari, who first adjourned the proceeding till 3 pm following noisy scene in the well of the House, faced similar situations in the post-lunch session.
The House witnessed pandemonium when Congress Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati attempted to climb the speaker's podium. He was joined by other Congress members.
BJP MLAs were seen standing in front of their respective seats and shouted anti-government slogans.
Announcing suspension of a private member's bill in view of the chaos, Pujari adjourned the house till tomorrow.
The Assembly could not function since the start of the winter session on November 20 on the chitfund issue.
Meanwhile, the Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra of Congress raised the issue relating to violation of law while introducing any bill. Though the Orissa Official Language Act, 1954 had provision of circulating Bill copy in Odia language, the same was not being done by the government, Mishra claimed.
The members of both the opposition and treasury bench admitted that Bills were being circulated in English language. All of them agreed that the Bills, notices and motions should also be circulated in Odia along with English copies.
Pujari said he was aware about the concern of the members and would soon give his ruling on the matter.
