Odisha CM orders placement of new recruits in backward areas

With a large number of posts lying vacant in tribal dominated KBK regions and western districts, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed authorities to appoint newly recruited persons in backward areas.
Patnaik issued such direction at a high level meeting last night. He asked all departments to adhere to this direction and said any violation would not be tolerated.
Patnaik emphasized on filling up of the posts of Extension Officer lying vacant under various departments.
He asked the Chief Secretary to hold a meeting with Secretaries of Panchayati Raj, Women and Child Development, Cooperation, SC and ST Development and Fisheries and Animal Resources Department within a week's time and finalise modalities for filling up of the posts of Extension Officer in the coming six months.
Patnaik also stressed on early disposal of recruitment related cases lying at the Odisha Administrative Tribunal, Cuttack.
The chief Minister asked the Law Minister, Advocate General and Law Secretary review this issue together in three days' time and find out modalities for disposal of these cases.
Law Minister, Advocate General and Law Secretary were also directed to conduct a review meeting on recruitment -related cases in the first week of every month and inform the Chief Minister about the development.
Besides, Patnaik asked officers to prepare an advance annual calendar on recruitment to be made under the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
