Odisha judge gets parcel of bullets and detonator

The judge of a local court in Odisha's LWE-hit Koraput district received a parcel containing two bullets and a detonator, besides a letter purportedly sent by Maoists.
The parcel was sent through Speedpost of the postal department to the sub-judge of sub-divisional judicial magistrate here, Debashis Panda who received it yesterday and opened it today, police said.
The letter in the parcel alleged that Panda used to reject bail pleas and dismiss petitions and warned him to refrain from such activities or 'face the consequence at the Praja Court (court of the Maoists)'.
"During your tenure at Rayagada, you used to reject people's bail application and petitions. Now also you are working with the same attitude in Koraput. Leave the place immediately or else you will be punished at the Praja Court," the hand written letter in Odia read.

The sender identified himself as D Kameswar Rao, a resident of Raniguda Farm at Rayagada town in the adjoining district.
"We suspect it to be the work of mischief mongers to create panic. The bullets are dead and the detonator is an unused one. However, investigation is on and we have sought the help of our Rayagada counterpart to trace the sender," said the district superintendent of police Avinash Kumar.
The superintendent of posts, Jeypore circle, B C Padhi when contacted said there were no gadgets to scan parcels and letters sent from the counters in the circle."Therefore our staff was unaware of the content of the parcel.
