Top Odisha Police officers and officials of the National Security Guard (NSG) had a close door meeting here to assess the state's preparedness to tackle terror attack.
Odisha DGP K B Singh, city police commissioner Y B Khurania and other senior officers attended the meeting, NSG was represented by its IG Sashank Mishra.
Though the officials refused to divulge details of the discussion, sources said the meeting focused on the state's preparedness to tackle terror attack. Odisha has a long coastline of 480 km besides certain vital installations like missile testing centres.
The police has planned a three-day mock drill at state secretariat, assembly building and Biju Patnaik International Airport in presence of NSG officials, sources said.
It is also learnt that the top cops also discussed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to counter the potential threats and acts of terrorism within the State.
"The mock drill is a routine activity carried in every state. A joint initiative will be undertaken in this direction by Odisha Police and NSG. Odisha Police has very well trained officers and we are training along with them. Together, we are learning from each other and this is definitely going to help in tackling any potential disaster that comes," said NSG IG Sashank Mishra.
"Mock drills are required with the increasing threat perception from terrorist outfits. The Special Tactical Unit (STU) of the State Police has also been involved in the drill," said commissioner of police Y B Khurania.
