Odisha to set up 3 more special courts for atrocity cases

The Odisha govenrement today said it has decided to set up three more special courts for trial of atocity cases against the mebers of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.
This was revealed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik while presiding over a meeting of the State Tribes Advisory Council (TAC). The government has sanctioned Rs 2 crore each for setting up of special courts in Cuttack, Bolangir and Balasore districts.
It was also decided that 40 legal aid centres will be established across the State, an official release said adding that the meeting revealed that Rs 3.86 lakh have been paid to 802 couples having inter-cast marriage.
The government has included castes like Suagiri, Mahara, Radhi Niari, Giragiria and Ghani in the Scheduled Caste (SC) list.
The meeting also decided to construct 55 hostels for ST/SC students in 11 districts of the State, it said.
