Official arrested while taking bribe

Sleuths of vigilance bureau today arrested a senior officer of Punjab Food and Civil Supply department when he was allegedly accepting bribe from a subordinate in the district, an official said.
Additional Commissioner, Finance and Audit, Ashwani Kumar Bansal was arrested while allegedly accepting Rs one lakh from Food and Civil Supplies department Inspector Manjit Singh at Mullanpur, some 17 km from here, he said.
Bansal had already taken first installment of Rs one lakh from Singh few days ago, he said, adding the ACFA was arrested while taking the second installment of the bribe, he said.
The ACFA had assured the Inspector that he would not take any action on a complaint against him which was lying pending with him, he said.

A case has been registered against Bansal under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
