With Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself having set an example in communicating through the social media, the New Media Wing of the Information and Broadcasting ministry organised a social media workshop here.
Speaking on the occasion, I&B secretary Bimal Julka has said the Internet is fast becoming a mainstream, not just in the significant numbers but also in how fast it is seeping into the lives of the people of India.
He emphasized on building up communication strategies targeted for masses keeping in view the Prime Minister's vision of 'Minimum Govt and Maximum Governance' for time-bound delivery of government services.
A statement relased by the I&B ministry said the workshop was divided into four sessions. The first session concentrated on transforming governance through social media, which focused on Listen and Engage Module of social media, it's analytic and response management.
A demonstration was also given on the pre and post-budget analytics and report-making. The second session was a hands-on on Twitter usage and it's speciality as a unique media tool to impart information on a larger scale. The session also covered various nitty-gritty's of Facebook as an interactive medium for government communication.
