Old prisoner dies in jail; judicial inquiry ordered

A 70-year-old prisoner serving a ten-year imprisonment today died died in a district hospital here, following which a judicial inquiry has been ordered into his death.
The prisoner, identified as Sardar Jasvant Singh was arrested for supplying drugs and was convicted under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by the court to ten years of imprisonment in 2010.
The prisoner had taken ill due to his old age for the last few days and died in district hospital today, Jailor, District Jail Mizazi Lal told reporters here.
A judicial inquiry has been ordered into the death of prisoner, he said.
