One arrested for raping step-sister

One person was today arrested under charges of raping his step-sister in the city's Port area, the police said.
Sanjay Thakur (46) was booked under IPC Section 376 (Punishment for Rape) on the basis of a complaint of his 23-year-old step-sister at the South Port Police Station.
The woman in her complaint alleged that Sanjay, who was staying at the same house on Circular Garden Reach Road, committed the crime late last night when she was sleeping in her room.
"On the basis of the recorded and signed statement of the complainant against her step-brother, Sanjay Thakur was arrested today from his residence at Taratala Port Colony," a senior officer of SPPS said.

The complainant's father got married to Sanjay's mother after his father Darago Thakur passed away a few years back, the officer said.
"We are checking whether this person has any past crime history. We are looking into the matter and waiting for the report of the medical tests of the woman," he added.
