Seventeen persons today arrived at Delhi from Liberia with health ministry officials saying that all have been found healthy except for one passenger, who has been quarantined.
According to the ministry, of those who came back from Liberia to India today, 17 landed in Delhi.
The ministry said, "They have all been screened and found healthy except for one passenger, who had fever and sore throat. He has been isolated at the quarantine-cum-isolation facility at Delhi Airport."
The Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) is tracking such passengers, the details regarding whom are provided by the Airport Health Organisation.
Today, 44 passengers were enrolled for follow up in their respective states through the state IDSP units. As of today, a total of 773 passengers are being tracked. Most of them are in the states of Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, five persons who returned from Nigeria on August 22 and were admitted to the quarantine facility at Delhi airport, have tested negative for the Ebola Virus Disease, the Health Ministry said today.
Following tests carried out at the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) here, three of them have been released from the quarantine facility while the remaining two (a doctor and a physiotherapist) developed fever and were transferred to RML Hospital for treatment.
Both of them are afebrile now, the ministry said.
