CBI in its investigation based on an allegation established that S Murali, as Director of M/s Tele Data Networking Serviced (P) Ltd, conspired and cheated the government by illegally switching over incoming international calls as local calls and thereby causing wrongful loss.
Investigation further revealed that the accused obtained incoming international call lines from BSNL (then known as Department of Telecommunications) from Mambalam Exchange by misrepresenting that the lines would be used for business purpose and installed a system using sophisticated equipments.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau of CBI had registered the case based on an allegation made to the agency.
