allegedly shot dead a GRP constable after a drunken brawl in Haridwar district, a senior police official said today.
The two were having a drink together within the precincts of Gangnahar railway station in Roorkee late last night when a fight broke out between them.
The civil police constable whose identity is yet to be established allegedly opened fire with his rifle at the GRP constable named Amit Kumar and fled from the spot, SP (rural) Pramendra Dobhal said.
The GRP constable was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The matter is being investigated and Kumar's body has been handed over to his family after post-mortem, the SP said.
