The accused was identified as Sahjad Khan, a resident of Malerkotla in Sangrur district.
Police had rescued a Ludhiana-based woman during the first week of January from a rented accommodation in Kacha Dalip Nagar area of Mandi Gobindgarh, where she was allegedly held hostage by Khan and his family members.
The woman in her complaint said she met Sahjad around 15 months ago and developed close relations with him as he had allegedly promised to marry her.
"However, Sahjad and his family members forced her into prostitution," woman alleged, and accused Sahjad's brother Salman Khan and mother Parveen of physical and mental torture.
On the statement of the woman, the police registered a case against both the brothers and their mother under various sections of the Immoral Trafficking Act.
Senior Superintendent of Police H S Mann said police have arrested Khan, who is already married, and raids were being conducted to arrest the rest.
