One Jabbar Sheikh was arrested in connection with the clash from Sukhdebpur area in this district this morning, Superintendent of Police Prasun Bandyopadhyay said.
A police team led by DSP (HQ) has been conducting combing operation to arrest other culprits, he said.
A student of class VIII Md Azim Alam (15), son of the leader of one group, suffered injuries when a stray bullet hit him in the stomach.
Alam was admitted to the Malda Medical College and Hospital.
