One died on the spot and 14 injured were admitted to the Mainaguri hospital while two critical were rushed to the North Bengal Medical College in Siliguri, they said.
The incident happened at around 11am when a bus travelling from the city to Dhupguri was hit by a lorry from the opposite side on NH 31 at Domohoni crossing leaving one dead on the spot and 16 injured, they said.
The driver and the conductor have fled and a search has been initiated for them, police said.
