The vehicle was proceeding towards Darjeeling from Siliguri when the accident occurred at around 9 PM last night.
The deceased has been identified as Basant Rai, the headmaster of RKSP School, Darjeeling.
The injured -- Rita Baraily and her two sons aged 16 years and 5 years -- were taken to Kurseong hospital.
They were later referred to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, Siliguri from Kurseong hospital, police said.
The reason of the accident was believed to be poor condition of NH-55, police said.
