The GEO News channel Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) was parked last night with the driver and a satellite engineer inside it when three unidentified gunmen opened fire on the vehicle near Naheed Store in Bahadurabad.
The engineer died while the driver sustained injuries in the attack.
"The assailants fled the scene on motorcycles after opening fire and we have started investigations to arrest the gunmen," DIG Munir Sheikh said.
Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Khan Siyal has taken notice of the attack and asked senior police officials to immediately arrest the suspects.
Geo TV, the country's largest private broadcaster, is owned by Jang Group of Newspapers. Last year, one of Geo's leading anchors Hamid Mir was attacked in the southern Pakistani port city of Karachi.
