The injured police constable has been identified as Sedhuram.
He was shot in the stomach and was rushed to a private hospital in Gurgaon in a serious condition, police said.
The driver of the car, Arif (22) died in the firing, they said.
"It is not clear who fired and from where...Or if it was a cross firing...It is a matter of investigation," they said.
The team intercepted the car, which had two persons. While the policemen were taking one person out of the vehicle, the firing took place, they said.
There is no information about the second person in the car, they said, adding that the vehicle has been seized.
