Hospital officials said the man, identified as Muthukumar, hailing from Meenakshipuram near Pollachi, was undergoing treatment for swine flu in a private hospital here for the last three days and was shifted to the government hospital around midnight.
He died around 5 AM today, officials said.
However, a senior official claimed that though all the deceased had symptoms of swine flu, three cases had ailments like asthma and cardiac, kidney and lung problems.
12 persons, including two children, were undergoing treatment for swine flu at the government hospital for swine flu, the official added.
