The threat call was issued today to the police control room by the accused, who claimed to be Namo Naryan, an official release said.
After receiving the call, the city police swung into action and traced the caller, it said.
Upon being told that his call was being recorded, the accused dared the police to "do whatever you can do", the release said.
He has been identified as Valeshwar Ram, a resident of Burail village in Chandigarh.
A mobile phone, including a SIM card, used by the accused person for making the threat call, were recovered from the accused, police said.
The investigation is on, police said.
