The joint team led by the Army's Red Horns Division noticed the movement of two suspected NDFB (S) cadres and on being challenged they fired towards the Security Forces and tried to run away, the officer said.
In retaliation the security forces fired and one of the fleeing militants was killed and another injured in the encounter, the sources said.
One 7.65mm pistol, two rounds of ammunition and documents were recovered from them.
