One Arun Tanti (38) at around 12.30 AM came face to face with a herd of 40 elephants who had come out from the adjacent Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary under Mariani Forest Division, the police said.
Arun is suspected to have come in between the elephants as he did not see them in dark when they trampled him to death, they said.
Arun was scheduled to leave for his work place Bangalore tomorrow, his family sources added.
