ONGC claim billiards team title

Star-studded ONGC claimed the billiards team event trophy outplaying hosts BPCL at the 24th PSPB Inter Unit Billiards and Snooker Tournament here today.
In the final round, ONGC outplayed BPCL 3-0.
Rupesh Shah defeated junior national champion S Shrikrishna 200-10 while senior cueist Alok Kumar scored a break of 83 in his 200-111 win over Manan Chandra.
Cue ace Pankaj Advani scored 11 points to bring the match points difference to 200, which was 189 after the first two games, against Devendra Joshi and complete victory.
Indian Oil claimed the third spot edging out GAIL 2-1.
In the opening match fancied Brijesh Damani lost to Ishpreet Chadda 37-200 while Dhvaj Haria outplayed Ashutosh Padhy 200-29 to level scores before snooker professional Aditya Mehta took Indian Oil to a win with a 200-34 win over Ashok Yadav.

In the snooker team event, GAIL thrashed NRL 2-0 with Ashutosh Padhi and Ishpreet Chadda winning comfortably. Aditya Mehta made two good breaks of 51 and 67 in his win against J Phookan while Laxman Rawat recorded a easy win to help Indian Oil oust OIL 2-0.

BPCL beat MRPL 2-0 in another quarter final.
