The anti-terror squad (ATS) of Jharkhand Police Wednesday arrested six persons, including three women, in Giridih and busted an opium racket.
The ATS seized 14 kg opium, worth Rs 5 lakh, from their possession, sub-divisional police officer Niraj Kumar Singh told reporters.
On receiving information that the alleged opium peddlers would reach the Parasnath railway station in the morning, the ATS and the police personnel laid a trap and arrested them, Singh said.
He said that during interrogation they said they were taking the contraband to Ludhiana.
