Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Vinod Tawde today asked Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to act against touts in Konkan Railway for fraudulently booking tickets.
The senior state BJP leader, in a letter to the minister, pointed out that thousands of devotees from Konkan, who queued up since last night to book tickets during the Ganesh festival, were in for a shock after they discovered that most of the tickets were already booked.
"The Konkan Railway trains showed houseful booking status within minutes of the booking windows opening. The racket of railway touts is behind this," Tawde said.
Seeking an inquiry into the matter, Tawde said the minister should take stern action against those involved.
The touts have a special software through which they book tickets, depriving genuine commuters of tickets, even before online booking commences, the BJP leader said.
