Public-sector Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) today announced the launch of Aadhaar-based KYC services to make account opening process hassle free.
"The bank is privileged to announce the launch of e-KYC services in coordination with NPCI and UIDAI from 26th January 2014. With this, Oriental Bank of Commerce becomes the first public sector bank to launch such service," it said in a release.
With this launch, the identity and address verification of the customers will be done using e-KYC (Know Your Customer) services of UIDAI, it added.
"Customer needs to provide only his/her Aadhaar Number and scan one of his enrolled fingertips at biometric devices available at branches.
This will provide customers the comfort of quickly opening an account with online authentication of his/her Aadhaar number using e-KYC service of UIDAI," it said.
OBC has a pan India network of 2,089 branches, having 1,829 ATMs and a customer base of about 2.16 crore.
