Ornaments worth Rs 1.70 cr stolen from jewellery outlet

: An unidentified gang broke into a jewellery outlet here early today and decamped with cash to the tune of Rs eight lakhs, besides gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 1.70 crore, police said.
The incident came to light this morning after locals noticed the shutter of the shop broken open and informed the owner, they said.
The boxes, in which the jewels had been kept, were found abandoned in a nearby place later, they added.
