"Md Ansari was re-arrested after he stabbed the girl eight times when she resisted his advances," Superintendent of Police Narendra Kumar Singh told reporters.
Ansari was on bail after being arrested and sent to jail for allegedly stalking the girl last year on basis of the girl's complaint with the police.
The seriously wounded girl has been referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, police added.
