Members of a Hindu fringe outfit were prevented from proceeding to Katchativu for installing a Ganesh Idol and performing pooja there, seeking His blessings to retrieve the islet from Sri Lanka, police said today.
Three functionaries of Bharat Sena Movement came with a 1.5 feet high clay idol by train from Chennai and tried to leave for the islet but were prevented by police at the sea shore here, they said.
Later, the trio were asked by the police to immerse the idol in the sea here and sent back with a warning.
